Searching For Original Topics For Analytical Essays

Analytical essay topics may be assigned to you by your instructor. Alternatively, there will be times when deciding the subject to be explored in your piece will be left up to you. Remember that an analytical essay, as the name suggests, will be related to an analysis. You must explore the issue, opinion or point of view in a concise method, based on fact.

Topics That Will Work For You

An analytical essay is far more likely to be a success if you keep a few guidelines in mind when selecting the subject of your paper. As with any essay your thesis must be clearly outlined in the first paragraph of your piece. Have a plan and be well-organized before you start to type.

Here are some places to start looking for an original analytical essay topic:

  3. Human Relationships
  4. Why do parents protect their young? Why do a few mothers kill their babies?

  5. Current Events
  6. What caused the global recession? Why are energy prices rising in Europe?

Why is the Ukraine in a civil war? Why is Russia involved in the Ukraine?

A Few Tips To Writing A Better Analytical Essay

  1. Make sure you begin with a solid thesis, and a strategy for how you will approach the topic. Ask yourself questions such as “What is my point?” and “Where is my proof?”
  2. It is better to have an essay that is of medium length and concise, as opposed to one that is padded out with unnecessary information. You should write with authority on the topic, inspiring confidence in your readers and convincing them that your thesis is correct. Avoid colloquial language and/or slang.
  3. The use of quotations is acceptable. However they should be used to strengthen and support your work. Do not randomly insert them into your essay, and leave the reader to draw their own conclusions.
